Mental Strategies in Tennis: Never Give Up
Welcome to the show, Mental Strategies from the Game of Tennis. In today’s episode, we will look at one of the mental strategies. Very simply, it is: Never Give Up.
In tennis you should never give up until the match is over. Zverev is down 5-6 in the final set and facing match point against Gasquet. Watch how Zverev is determined to stay in the long rally.
Perhaps you might be stuck at home now, feeling stressed with the social isolation measures and facing some uncertainty in your career.
You might feel like your opponent - the virus called COVID 19 - has won the match and your life is going to be miserable. But remember you are still at the court and your opponent has no fans. In fact, everyone at the court is rooting for you and they all want your opponent demolished.
Play one point at a time and do not let the overall score put you down. Keep your focus on just the ball you are hitting. Similarly, in your life, focus on just one task every day and do it the best you can.
As long as you keep your spirits up you always have a chance to win. You never know when the game will shift into your favour, so never give up.
I hope you will find this mental strategy useful. Stay safe and see you all soon.
